Introduction
The client was a large US company who provided HR services to several FTSE 500 and federal government departments. They were a long-time client of IBM and had over $200 million invested in IBM technology, including both mainframe and distributed (server) products.
Whilst undergoing a recent digital transformation project, where IBM workloads were moved from on-premises to public cloud, an IBM software license review (SLR) was triggered. Because of this, the threat of a substantial, unbudgeted and a large license purchase loomed.
