SAP want all their customers to migrate from SAP ERP 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA. To encourage organisations to move, SAP has announced that support and maintenance for SAP ERP 6.0 will end on 31st December 2027. As a result of this announcement, if you have purchased perpetual licenses for your SAP ERP 6.0 estate, your SAP support and maintenance will cease from 1st January 2028.
SAP ERP 6.0 is the most common SAP ERP platform currently in use across the SAP installed base. SAP ERP 6.0 is sold using a perpetual license model with an annual support & maintenance cost range of between 17-22% of the license cost.
Ending support and maintenance for these licenses in 2027 will place significant pressure on approximately 70% of all SAP customers.
Customers therefore need to carefully evaluate and understand the impacts of each available option.
