Introduction

The client is a large insurance company based in the UK and a long-term client of Microsoft and has invested many millions in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Apps over the last few years. The client wanted a better understanding of their D365 compliance position, an understanding of their usage data and recommendations for cost savings.

Their Challenges

The client faced a number of challenges with:

  • Changes in Dynamics applications since their last renewal
  • Still using a legacy on premise Dynamics environment
  • Establishing usage of D365 apps

Their Objectives

The clients’ objectives were:

  • To understand their current D365 license usage
  • To optimise their D365 position
  • To find cost saving opportunities

bedigital’s Solution

We implemented a staged approach to support the client.

  • Discovery – analysing the data provided to us from the client
  • ELP- creating an effective license position to understand their usage within D365 and Power Apps
  • Risk and opportunity identification

Outcomes

Our outcomes and findings included:

  • A Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Apps ELP
  • We made them aware that with the changes in user license allocations they had to replace their Sales Enterprise Attach licenses with Base licenses
  • Dual use functionality: Our findings demonstrated that the customer service licenses had a dual use functionality allowing them to be used for on premise dynamic CRM environments
  • Capacity based product summary: This highlighted a risk in the Customer Insights licenses whereby a higher capacity was being used than had been purchased

Benefits

Client had a clear ELP delivered to them which demonstrated their current license position of Dynamics 365 and Power apps, as well as a clear strategy for moving forward.

Annual cost reduction of £75K

Conclusion

The project was delivered in a tight timeframe, the client was able to receive an ELP which demonstrated their usage, license position, areas for improvement and strategy moving forward as well as an annual cost saving of £75K on their new Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.
